Grounds A Problem Posted: Thursday, July 29, 2010
Hylton Moore Oval and Adelaide Street Oval are closed by councils until 2pm today where the council responsible for each ground will make further assessments.

Today's forecast is for late rain easing on Saturday Morning so this does not look good for those fragile grounds (the majority) in the competition. In as much we hate to be the bearer of bad news, but with the rain the area has suffered this week the likelihood of some games going ahead tomorrow appear remote.

In the meantime the league is locked into talks with local councils regarding the availability of grounds in coming weeks.

2010 is the worst season the competition has suffered with rain and grounds being taken out of the equation one after another.

Killarney Vale play Lake Macquarie in this weekend's round 16 games and with the Bomber's Tuesday Nights postponed game at Adelaide Street against Cardiff again put off it appears unlikely that the ground will be available for play on Saturday but officials are keeping their fingers crossed.

Terrigal Avoca play Newcastle City at East Gosford and while this ground can take a reasonable amount of rain, when the water sets in it is very hard to move without the heat from the sun.

The other remaining match is almost certain to be played with Warners Bay at home game to the Magpies.

Seaman Oval is well renowned in the league as being able to take as much rain that is thrown at it, given the result isn't always a pristine playing surface, and would take a huge deluge to have the game cancelled.

Both Cardiff and Gosford have a rostered bye and efforts to have the two play their postponed game from round 8 played failed when the Tigers got in early to forfeit.  There are many in the competition very unhappy with this, a first grade team forfeiting a match.

All grounds will be inspected late today with continuing rain now bringing the two final venues, Newcastle No. 1 Sportsground and Adelaide Street on the Central Coast into question should the inclement weather continue.
